Started by Vijay Govindarajan at Dartmouth’s Tuck School of Business, the goal of the $300 House Initiative is to help improve the quality of life for the poverty stricken. They have a three-pronged approach to service. First, is the need to provide people with basic necessities such as food, clothing and shelter. Then education must be provided to nurture their awareness, creativity and capability to create a brighter future for themselves. Finally, income opportunities must be provided to improve their standard of living. In this way, we can help people to exit the vicious cycle of poverty that has ensnared their lives.
